DIAMONDS ARE A GIRLS BEST FRIEND

This one is about a rainy Monday afternoon at the V&A in South Kensington to see the Cartier Exhibition.

My appreciation for art keeps growing as I nurture it here in London. The resources on art, history, and culture here amaze me and fill my heart. How blessed I am to be able to spend a rainy Monday afternoon with good company at a museum, capturing centuries of art and beauty.

The Victoria & Albert Museum was the next one I attended in South Kensington. Over the past months, I discovered Marylebone to the fullest, so now the time has come to widen my horizon and explore more beautiful corners of London. Little did I know that I had not yet seen the best. Kensington & Chelsea are so charming. Beyond the buildings, the parks, and the less touristy clientele, it awakened a feeling inside of me – like a fusion of our summer getaway in the Netherlands, a truly elegant street in London, and a slight touch of Paris, with, of course, the sounds of New York City near the main streets.

Before reaching the actual destination for the day, I walked across the neighborhood with my AirPods in, listening to Etta James and The Beatles. I am so happy and grateful to see all of this as the leaves are falling. It was just a beautiful walk. I love walking in London – there is so much more to discover and see when you take the time to walk, be present in the moment, and give your surroundings the attention they deserve.

CARTIER EXHIBITION

The other day, V told me about the Cartier Exhibition at the V&A in South Kensington and invited me as her guest, since the exhibition has been sold out for months and closes on November 16th. I was so happy and grateful to be able to see it with her – we had the best time.

We spent some time walking around the museum, and one thing I can promise: this was definitely not the last visit. The museum holds so many beautiful pieces of art – from sculptures to paintings and thoughtful exhibitions. I already got my tickets for the Marie Antoinette Exhibition next year, but I will probably be a member by then too.

The Cartier Exhibition is divine. There is, obviously, a deep love for diamonds within me. I mean, which woman doesn’t love diamonds, right? Starting with pieces from France, Japan, Egypt, and beyond, to beautiful brooches and, finally, the grand finale — the tiaras. The tiaras. Why did we stop wearing those? Beautiful. Just beautiful. The craftsmanship, the little details, the crystals placed in such aesthetic and delicate forms – I loved it.

I can definitely picture myself wearing these pieces. I mean, what are they made for, anyway? Beauty like this exists to be admired, appreciated, loved, and worn. “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend,” Marilyn Monroe once said and I couldn’t agree more.

All my love,
– K.J.K.
